Aftercare with Derm Shield

  • Leave recovery Derm Shield on for 3-5 days

  • Your tattoo might ooze blood, plasma, and ink under the bandage, creating an ink sack. This is normal!

  • When ready to remove, make sure you are in the shower under warm, running water.

  • Gently lift the edge of the bandage and pull away, parallel to the tattoo.  Think of how your would pull a command strip.

  • Once the bandage is fully removed, gently wash the tattoo with liquid Gold Dial antibacterial soap and pat dry with a paper towel.

  • Apply a thin layer of unscented lotion - avoid petroleum based lotions.

  • Wash the tattoo and apply lotion 2-3 times a day until the tattoo is fully healed (about 1 month)

Special Attention

  • ALWAYS wash your hands first when dealing with your fresh tattoo

  • AVOID: direct sunlight, excessive sweating, bodies of water/pools/baths, picking at the tattoo.

  • Use sunscreen on your tattoos once they have fully healed.  This will help with the longevity.

  • If you have redness, itchiness, or swelling around the Derm Sheild, your skin might be having a reaction to the bandage. Don't worry! Your tattoo will be fine. Just remove the Derm Shield as soon as you can, and follow the aftercare instructions.
